Multi-Generational Family Photos
I need to start out by saying I absolutely adore these people. They are amazing humans for how they love each other and others. How they listen, accept, and support other people. I have the highest respect for them and am so honored they had me make multi-generational family photos after moving back to Atlanta. It was late 2015 when I first met them and made their engagement photos. Then drove to Asheville, North Carolina to photograph their wedding in the fall of 2016. I saw them briefly in Denver right before Covid hit and Amanda was pregnant. So doing multi-generational photos with the grandparents was an emphatic “YES!” when David reached out and asked.
Moving out to Colorado and back to Atlanta
Amanda + David had followed their dream to move out west after they were married and enjoyed the Colorado mountains for a bit. And then after Talon was born, they moved back to Atlanta and are now closer to old friends and family. I was super pumped to meet Talon as the stories I saw them share on social media showed him to be this awesome kid. And I was not disappointed. This kid is almost three and speaking in full and clear sentences. It was extraordinary and not something I run into often.
The Yellow River Post Office was awesome for family photos!
They picked out the old Yellow River Post Office in Lilburn. I’d never been there before and absolutely loved this old part of town. There was more than just the old post office on the property. There were old out buildings, a barn, and even an old well (that’s now closed up and safe for kiddos to sit on). Everything was in fairly close proximity and just what they wanted for the backdrop of their multi-generational family photos.
These guys now have a huge canvas on their living room wall with one of the multi-generational family photos of them all in front of a cottage. And just last week, David texted me to say they gave Talon a camera for his birthday. He’s been busy taking pictures of his world. Talon told his parents he was making photos like Ms. Kelley while he pointed at the canvas in their living room. Totally made my day that this kid is now making photos. AND that he remembered my name and how I made the family photo of them he sees every day.
