I received an inquiry about headshots through my website asking for a white background and the pose needed to be specific. He also wanted to make them the same day, if possible. Ten minutes later, I was on the phone chatting with this gentleman about what he needed because I was interested in how specific these headshots needed to be. He said no side views or turning, just a straight on. Which sounds easy enough.

To be sure I knew what he needed, I asked for screenshots of his coworkers’ headshots so I’d know what to match. And that part right there was extremely helpful to me, as I could tell the lighting set up his coworkers’ photographer used from those photos. Which then allowed me to match it and guarantee his headshots would fit right in on the company website. I had an opening at 3pm that same day. Excellent!

Follow-up Headshot Story – Meet Brandon
While I would LOVE to show you his headshots, he asked that I not share them on my website. So you get the follow up story and images. Because I value privacy and my clients’ requests when they don’t want their images shared. My neighbor Brandon has been telling me for weeks that he needs to update his headshots. Time moves fast when you’re busy. And while we’ve gone for walks together in our neighborhood and hung out on my front porch talking in the evening, there hasn’t been time carved out for him to be in front of my camera.
After my mystery client left my studio, I texted Brandon. I told him he should stop by that evening for headshots if he was dressed up fancy. When he texted back, he said he’d grab his suit and shirt/tie options after feeding his dogs before heading over. I loved the choices he brought! With my studio all set up, we were done in twenty minutes. Brandon was thrilled with the first round images. He chose four of them and opted to not get back in front of the camera in other shirt/tie/suit combos. These are his finals.
As I was editing Brandon’s headshots, I realized how striking his blue eyes are. I kinda got lost in staring at them for awhile during my retouching proccess. And then thought I need to use this lighting setup more often for my headshots!
