Asian Wedding – Abigail + Son
Abigail reached out to me seven months before her wedding to Son in Stone Mountain. She had a list of events she knew she wanted covered, from engagement photographs at Georgia Tech where these two met. To a Vietnamese Tea Ceremony that would happen in two parts the day before their wedding. To their wedding ceremony at Eastminster Presbyterian Church where she grew up. Followed by a wedding reception at the Canton House on Buford Highway. I had never documented an Asian wedding, but was pumped to be asked and trusted to photograph hers. From the start, Abigail was an absolute delight and I adored her.
Planning an Asian Wedding From a Distance
Planning all of these events was not a simple endeavor as this was love in the time of Covid. Combined with the fact that Abigail and Son lived in Boston. While they were making multiple trips back to Atlanta to plan and visit their families over the coming months, traveling was not easy. Everyone was masking. Social distancing was still in effect everywhere. They weren’t sure how many guests would be able to attend their wedding. Much of our planning took place through Zoom calls and emails. Although I jumped at every opportunity to meet up with them when they were in town, including a pre-wedding walk through of the church.
Lunarosa Events was also part of the planning process as Abigail and Son’s wedding planner. Being able to talk with Gicell during the church walk through and email planning helped make sure the timeline for the wedding day allowed the necessary time to create the images Abigail + Son wanted.
Abigail + Son, and All of Their People, Are Amazing!
All of these conversations and meet ups ensured the start of their marriage was documented just how they wanted. And in the process of me getting to know Abigail and Son, seeing their love and adoration for each other, and then their families…I fell in love with them and their people as they treated me like family and sent me home with boxes of THE most delicious homemade food ever. I could not have been more honored to photograph Abigail and Son’s wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
