Walker’s Third Birthday Party
There’s so much excitement around a birthday. If you’re turning three, you’re starting to get a handle on what exactly this means.
Presents. Cake. Friends. And grandparents.
And in Walker’s case, it meant the gift of a baby brother. Yes, his brother arrived a few days early and his mom was still in the hospital on the day of his birthday party. But how can you not still have the birthday party when it’s all been planned and people have driven in from out of state?
There were three year olds galore and the squealing to go with it. Even though Jen was in the hospital, Billy kept her on facetime throughout much of the party so she could see what was happening and how incredibly excited Walker was over every aspect of his party.
You would think that the most heard phrase at a birthday party is the birthday person being told, “Happy Birthday!” But what I heard the most, after Walker squealing with excitement over people and cake and presents and people again, was Billy quietly saying to himself, “That’s one grateful kid right there.” And then he’d chuckle.
Billy + Jen. You are fabulous people and amazing parents. I love that in the middle of expanding your family, you stayed the course and hosted a joyous celebration for your three year old that he will always remember!
