I love engagements. Such fun interims between being a couple and becoming married people.

I love hearing the stories of how they met.

The crazy things that work out. Whether it’s a meeting in a bar where your friends walk you over to meet the boy you think is cute or a chance meeting in the office elevator lobby.

The chance encounters that seem to stick. Is it cheesy they make me believe in fate?

I love the engagement sessions that include the puppies. Then I have ears to pull and snouts to grab.

I love dog people. They treat their puppies like babies. They may love them more than they love people. And I’m ok with that.

I love Jake’s expression in this image. I’m betting Amanda is rather familiar with that one.

I love getting glimpses into other people’s lives. The games they play. The communication between them that is non-verbal in hand squeezes or the stinkeye for trouble making.

It reminds me of the good in this world when the news seems to be all doom and gloom.

It is seeing my people and knowing they make a difference in this world. To each other, but also in the lives of others.

It ignites my fire to make photographs.
